I think that, in addition to being pointlessly ill-mannered, you have carelessly overlooked the distinction between courses offered within Math degree programs, e.g., mathematical statistics, various topics in correlation and regression, time-series, ARIMA modeling, stochastic simulation and the like, and the kind of "statistics" offered to students not majoring in math. I sincerely doubt that Jean is talking about a "hard" course of probability theory with moment-generating functions on a real field. She likely refers to one of the introductory, "statistics for the <fill-in-the-blank-with-anything-other-than-'math'> student" courses. Jean's plenty bright for that, and has the inarguable more attractive traits of kindness, consideration, and courtesy.
