I wrote, "Experience shows that WITH THE HELP OF SOCIETY anyone can get used to anything.

No one writes your biography or does a National Geographic special about your overcoming your handicap when that handicap is the disfiguration brought upon you by baldness."
TO WHICH I NOW ADD THE FOLLOWING:
Recently a blind guy climb Mt. Everest.
Now this blind guy has been inteviewed and has become famous.
He has the pleasure of being referred to as a shining example of how someone can overcome any handicap.
Yeah, sure.
Imgine if his climbing buddies did not make allowance for his handicap--imagine if his climbing buddies told him that being blind was no excuse for expecting them to constantly describe what was in front of him, so he, the blind climber, would know where to place his feet.
Imagine how long those "buddies" would have supported the blind guy if those "buddies" did not see the blind guy's blindness as making the blind guy "special" and deserving of extra consideration.
Imagine how long before those buddies would have found some other, sighted, pal to climb with.
If the world ridicules your handicap--as is the case with baldness--your life becomes a hell.
Beyong the modest demands of food and drink, all luxuries on our lives, all our other pleasures, depend on other people and our interaction with them.
Even "luxury" goods are pleasurable mostly because they "impress" our fellows with our prosperity--and "worthiness."
Beyond food and water, we live for compliments.
