Let me offer some information. When a sperm binds with the egg a cell is formed. That cell has to split into two cells. Each of these two cells spilt and so on and so on until you get a complete human being. Cells, at certain stages, can sense where they are in relation to other cells and differentiate themselves to become an eye, kidney, etc. When a cell is at this stage it is known as a stem cell. In other words, a stem cell is able to become something beyond what it currently is. Hence, some dermal papilla cells taken from the hair root have stem capabilities. When cultured in a lab, they multiply. Now if you understand the growth cycle of the hair follicle the rest is easy. A dermal papilla stem cell which was taken from a hair sample and multiplied in the lab gets injected into the scalp. Once inside the scalp at the proper depth, this dermal papilla stem cell goes to work and grows a new hair follicle just like it did when the fetus was growing. Hope this helps.
