Just wondering, from people's usual experience with finasteride, how effective has it proven for frontal hair line thinning? What's the consensus? And if it's not been very effective for this area, will dutasteride likely be a better performer for frontal thinning?

Also, I'm suffering from considerable diffuse thinning over the entire top of the scalp and finasteride use for 9 months hasn't seemed very effective overall. There is speculation that this type of diffuse thinning associated with seborrhea dermatitis is more due to Type I reductase activity which is why finasteride may not work too well for this pattern of hair loss (see Waseda opinion). Is this plausible? If it is, I would think Dutasteride would represent a significant step forward for men suffering from this pattern of hair loss.

Thoughts on the above ponderings?
