After 5 hours finasteride in the blood peaks and 24 hours later the suppression of DHT is only at 45%. So I feel more comfortable taking it twice a day until Dutasteride is available. It blocks both types and lasts longer. Plus check out the GSK site

They posted a simple chart comparing Dutasteride with finasteride and their effectiveness in growing hair. Notice that in their studies they used 5 mg of finasteride. Probably just to make a point but I still think its best if you are trying to hold on to your hair until Dutasteride comes around to take Propecia twice a day or at least every other day if you have no side effects.
