I'm not 100% sure, but more than once person has told me that varying doses of proscar may in fact be better than a steady 1 mg propecia in that your body may begin to anticipate the regular introductions of finasteride and respond by producing that much more DHT as a counter balancing effect. I think this is heresay, but I do know that this same principal of periodotization applies to exercise science as well. Your body is an extremely complex organism that nobody understands completely. It has an amazing ability to adapt to stresses exerted on it, both physically and chemically.

Some advice given also says it's ok to take a slightly larger dose of say proscar and take no pills the next day. The idea is to not allow your body to adapt to a "predicatable" dosage of finasteride, which is the key ingredient in both proscar & propecia.
