The Difference Between HCM and HT in light of HM

HM threatens both, but there's one difference. HT doctors are even more scared of HM in the short term (next year or two) than HCM or other artificial hair system sellers could be. Why? Because if people know HM is coming out within, say, 3-4 years, the vast majority would be dissuaded from getting HM (because of the inherent risks which are often irreversible), but WOULDN'T be dissuaded from buying into an HCM plan. They'd simply wear the system for the next 3-4 years until HM comes out. So in the immediate term, HCM is not threatened.

Plus, HCM is a privately-held company which is owned by a group of partners, principally Sy Sperling. When they see the landscape start to change, they may simply phase out operations and put their money into other investments.

It's not quite the same as with an HT surgeon, who has invested years and years into his professional training and depends upon the skill for his individual livelihood. Once the patients dry up he either has to learn a new skill (HM, for instance, or some other form of cosmetic surgery or dermatology), and shift the focus of his practice accordingly.

In the short term knowledge that HM is looming on the horizon threatens HT doctors much more than people like HCM.
