Firstly, I inadvertently typed your name in the author section of my above post.

Secondly, Jean tends to know nothing and yet add her 2 cents to everything. She thinks that just because she is self-admittedly "ignorant about hair loss" she should flap her gums on the subject every chance she gets.

3. I know a lot about the chemistry of hairloss and it is you who needs to consider what he is saying, not I. When DHT is removed there is still plenty of androgen left in the skin of the scalp to prevent reversal of hairloss to it's maximum potential. Testosterone increases dramatically and testosterone has a considerable affinity for the androgen receptor. The other androgens also have "some" affinity for the androgen recpetor. You act as though you know for a fact that the other androgens would not inhibit reversal of hairloss in the even of the absence of DHT, but you do not know this. Indeed, we had a former poster (Mohawk) who had eliminated a bunch of DHT with proscar and he was even on minoxidil additionally, but he could not reverse his hairloss. But then he got on an antiandrogen (which negated all of his androgen in the skin of his scalp) and lo and behold he got considerable regrowth and saw the potential for dense regrowth.

This type of anecdotal evidence supports my theory that in the absence of DHT the other androgens will inhibit reversal of hairloss. I do have some evidence supporting my position, you on the other hand indicate that these other androgens have a lower affinity for the androgen receptor as though you are citing some earth-shattering piece of scientific information. What a laugh! Everyone except Jean knows the other androgens do not have the binding affinity of DHT. So what? The other androgens still do have some binding affinity and in the absence of DHT they still do some binding to receptors and in so doing they inhibit maximum reversal of hair loss.

And once again, Testosterone has a considerable affinity for the androgen receptor and when DHT is eliminated Testosterone levels increase dramatically. And then the testosterone binds, and binds, and binds.
