Gene therapy using hybrid type artificial skin.--Experimental treatment on diabetes animals using hybrid type artificial skin injected insuline gene.---

Abstract

We made the cells secreting pro-insuline the precursor of insuline by integration of insuline gene into skin fibroblast cells, using plasmid vector. After we injected the cells into dermis layer of hybrid type artificial skin and next transplanted the skin to diabetes nude mouse, then the decrease of weight and increase of blood sugar value peculiar to diabetes were significantly inhibited (fig. 1, fig. 2: http://www.jst.go.jp/erato/project/ysk_P/sys/gif/04-01.gif, http://www.jst.go.jp/erato/project/ysk_P/sys/gif/04-02.gif).

Possible seeds and usage being developed

1. Gene therapy using hybrid type artificial skin.

2. Artificial control of gene expression through topical application of medicine.
