Hair Loss and Shrinks

I began to lose my hair at the ripe old age of 15. I won't go into details about the effects it had on my life. You can imagine. On several occasions I saw shrinks to try and deal with the depression. But no matter how sympathertic they seemed in the beginning, they always wound up insisting that my hairloss couldn't be the reason for my despression, it had to be something horrible in my childhood. Some of the riper comments were:

"Your hairloss couldn't do all this to you"

"You've got to get in touch with your anger toward your parents"

"You've bored psychiatrists talking about your baldness" (This is my favorite)

None of the shrinks I talked to would even consider the idea that hairloss could be the cause of serious depression all on its own. Whenever I protested that it was the cause, I was told that I was "in denial", "resisting therapy", "blocking", etc.etc.

Have any of you had similiar experiences? Are there any MH professionals that understand that hair loss can cause severe depression all on its own? And if not, why not? I really want some feed back on this.
