Hole in the lace

Last night as I was walking home from the corner store I walked by a tree and was poked in the head by a stray branch. The force of the branch(about an inch diameter)gave me a small cut on the top center part of my head. Immediately I thought oh s**t I hope I didn't tear a hole in the lace. I raced home and still couldn't tell in the mirror if the lace was torn or not. I removed the system to clean the cut and check the lace, and was mortified to find the lace had what looked like a bullet hole about 1/3 of an inch in it.

Has anyone had any similar damage to their system? Can it be repaired? Is the system a write- off? I know Richard can do amazing work, but I think this even beyond his help. Will call him Monday to see what can be done.
