I publish some extracts below hoping that someone could help me find out more. Since I know companies have been stormed with phonecalls whenever news has been published I guess the best thing would be if a few of us nice and easy try to find out more. Then providing it for the rest here.Reading the patents some of them are just a interesting as UNger´s and Gho´s. SOme of them are the same tecninques.

I also wonder. Is Hairsite aware of these patents? If the site is dedicated to hairmultiplication I find it strange nothing has been mentioned about this before. I mean the patents are there for all to see and I guess it must be in hairsites interest to be aware of whats happening in the HM world.

Anyone who seriously want to find out more I will provide the links to the patents as well. Just give me the e-mail adress.

The patents are japanese, american french, italian and chinese.

Extracts from some of the patents:

"A method of culturing hair follicular stem cells by isolating a subpopulation of follicular keratinocytes from the upper portion of a hair follicle, dispersing the isolated keratinocytes into a single cell suspension, and growing the dispersed isolated keratinocytes in the presence of 3T3 feeder cells is provided. A method of evaluating the efficacy of agents for modulating the activity of bulge cell populations by exposing bulge cells to an agent to be tested and comparing the response of the test cells to established controls for bulge cells is also provided. Methods of modulating the activity of hair follicular stem cells by identifying a subpopulation of follicular keratinocytes from the upper portion of a hair follicle and contracting the cells with a selected agent to stimulate growth or to selectively kill the cells is also provided."

"PURPOSE:To enable the stationary culture of hair mother cells having a multiplying and differentiating ability in a physiological state and contrive the utilization of the multiplied mother cells for the fundamental researches of the hair mother cells by allowing hair papilla cells to exist when the hair mother cells are cultured. CONSTITUTION:Hair mother cells (preferably gathered from the body hair of a newborn of a rodent) are cultured in the presence of hair papilla cells, a hair papilla cell-containing cell fraction or a hair papilla cell membrane fraction. The culture is preferably performed by using the hair mother cells and the hair papilla cells in a cell number:protein or DNA mass ratio of 1:9 to 9:1 at 20--38 deg.C in a gas phase containing 0-10% CO2 and 0-95% O2 by an embedding culture method."

"A process for extrasomatic culture of hair follicle in order to build up medicinal screening and testing system includes preparing hair follicle, culturing and testing methods. A medicinal screening and testing model for exterior application of medicine is created. Its advantages are shortening the developing period of medicines and proving the physiological and pharmacological actions of medicine in intracorporeal environment."

"The present invention discloses methods for the long-term augmentation and/or repair of skin defects (scars, skin laxness, skin thinning, and skin augmentation), cellulite, breast tissue, wounds and burns, urological and gastroesophageal sphincter structures, hernias, periodontal disease and disorders, tendon and ligament tears and baldness, by the injection or direct surgical placement/implantation of autologous cultured cells and/or cultured cell-produced extracellular matrix that is derived from connective tissue, dermis, fascia, lamina propria, stroma, adipose tissue, muscle, tendon, ligament or the hair follicle. The corrective application is done on tissue proximal or within the area of the defect. The method involves retrieving viable cells from the subject, a neonate or human fetus. Alternatively, the corrective application involves the cells placed in a matrix, preferably comprised of autologous extracellular matrix constituents as a three-dimensional structure or as a suspension, prior to placement into a position with respect to the subject's defect. In a further embodiment, the preferable autologous extracellular matrix constituents are collected from culture and placed in a position with respect to the subject's defect."

"PURPOSE:To provide a culturing method for hair matrix cells in which hair matric cells are steadily cultured as they maintain their ability to proliferate and differentiate under physiological conditions, thus it can be utilized in the basic research on hairs over a wide range such as development of hair-growing agents or mutual actions between cells in folicle tissues, in addition, the elucidation of the depilation mechanism remaining unresolved for many years. CONSTITUTION:In the culture method, hair matrix cells are cultured in the presence of blood vessel endothelial cells or cell membrane fraction thereof or a supernatant from the culture mixture of blood vessel endothelial cells. In addition, the hair-growing action of substances to be tested can be screened by performing this culture process with hair matrix cells in the presence of these substances, respectively."

"PURPOSE:To provide a safe hair-culturing agent having a high pharmacological activity by employing the tissue-cultured product of Panax Japonicas. CONSTITUTION:Panax Japonicas is subjected to a tissue culture, and from the resultant tissue culture products a tissue culture product containing a saponin, especially the saponin having oleanolic acid as an aglycone, is selected. The selected tissue culture product or an extract thereof is employed as an active ingredient for hair-culturing agents. The hair-culturing agent containing the cultured product exhibits an excellent trichogenous activity."

"The present invention relates to a biological material comprising a matrix consisting of at least one derivative of hyaluronic acid on which endothelial cells, glandular cells such as islets of Langerhans and liver cells, skin adnexa, germinative cells of hair bulbs, and keratinocytes are grown, optionally in presence of a medium treated with fibroblasts or in a co-culture with fibroblasts. It is also described the process for the production of said biological material and its use for human and veterinary use, in cardiovascolar and oncological surgery, in transplants, to enhance the biological process of tissue vascularization and for aesthetic use, and also for the screening of medicaments or toxic substances and as a support gene transfection. Biological material comprising an efficacious cell culture and a biocompatible and biodegradable three-dimensional matrix consisting of a hyaluronic acid derivative."

"The present invention relates to flavanonol derivatives represented by formula (1): (1) (wherein R1 represents an alkyl group, and each of R2 and R3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group which may have a substituent, an alkoxyl group which may have a substituent, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group, or a halogen atom), as well as to hair-nourishing and hair-growing compositions containing the derivatives. The compounds accelerate differentiation and proliferation of hair matrix cells, thereby exhibiting remarkable hair-nourishing and hair-growing effects."
