Question To All

I am an avid weightlifter and as such have done a good deal of research regarding the effects of androgens within the body. I came across something interesting the other day regarding Testosterone and DHT within the muscles. I discoverd that in studies (I don't have the references here, but I could look them up if necessary) Testosterone is much more effective at promoting musclular growth than DHT within the muscle tissue. There were two primary reasons given for this, taking into account DHT normally has a higher affinity for androgen receptors than testosterone.

1. 5 alpha-reductase is only present in minimal amounts, if at all within muscle.

2 The DHT that was present was rapidly broken down by 3alpha-hydroxysteroid reductase within the muscle itself (This is the one I care about with respect to androgenic alopecia).

My question is this. Has anybody heard of this enzyme, or any other substances for that matter that may be used to attack and break down DHT itself, be it topical or systemic? I feel that if DHT could be targeted itself, this type of treatment would make an excellent adjunct to various anti androgen therapies including 5 alpha reductase inhibitors (e.g. dut, fin) as well as androgen receptor blockers (e.g spiro, flutamide).

Thanks in advance.
