CommonSense, you're thinking is too broad here. Let me explain why. DHT in itself is not the cause of hair loss (in fact, it causes hair GROWTH in the majority of follicles on our body) . DHT causes the upregulation or downregulation of certain growth factors (TGF-beta, VEGF, FGF, KGF, etc.) which in turn ARE THE FACTORS that actually supress or enhance hair growth. Therefore, any topical that affects these downstream players (minoxidil is one such topical treatment) like VEGF, TGF, etc. is INDEED ADDRESSING the problem of DHT.
There are multiple ways of dealing with DHT. You can block its production with things like FIN and DUT, you can stop it from binding to the androgen receptor with things like flutamide and RU58841, you can stop it from activating genes with things like gene therapy, and you can stop it by alterting its downstream production of growth factors (which are realy what do the dirty work for DHT).
Feel free to ask questions, CommonSense. For some reason, I don't think you will be able to grasp what I explained in this post. :-)
