Nobody knows the exact long-term side effects. None of the drug companies can do ten-year studies since they would be unprofitable -- as it is, by then transplants might become much better than today (including body hair to head hair transplants) and Hair Multiplication and Cloning could make medications such as Dutasteride irrelevent. In fact, medications are probably much more harmful to your health that surgical transplants under localized anaesthesia.
Don't listen to anyone who tries to downplay the side effects of Duta. Basically, a lot of us will just take it since we are desperate. We want a short term fix to our problem to live our current lives to the fullest. Who cares about twenty years from no if you are depressed today. Just don't think Duta won't do anything. Even Propecia is a fairly recent drug whose ten year side effects are not known. Have you been following all the controversy with Women's Hormone Replacement Therapy recently? DDT was supposed to be a good thin.g Propecia supposedly causes sexual side effects in only two percent of people. Yeah right.
Basically, scientific research is error prone and oftentimes not done on a long-term basis. We have a problem and we will take the risk. You will only find out about side effects yourself. Your kids will hopefully have your experience to help them make decisions. That is if you will be able to have healthy not premature kids after being on Duta..... Ok maybe that might be going too far.
Good luck... I for one am going to wait for a few months before starting Duta and am probably one of the few who has not been complaining about the current delays. I will wait to see if anyone is getting serious short term side effects.
