Merck gave me pure 4MA (the first antiandrogen for MPB) in 1983 (or 4)upon my request as I was an approved researcher at a university hospital. We stopped the study before we could adequately assess it's ability on MPB because the men became impotent to varying degrees (clearly the drug was an effective antiandrogen!!).
I had RU58841 made by one of the largest labs in the country (they also wanted proof of my researcher status). RU works, including on frontal hairlines, but it is difficult to make and requires some obscure compounds, both contributing to what I consider an exhorbitantly priced product for the amount you get (about $28,000 for 30 grams). I hope a big drug company picks this drug back off it's feet.
I tried topical flutamide by merely purchasing the pills and making my own formulation. Perhaps it was the vehicle I chose, but in any case it grew no new hair.
