I took in some printouts to my doc today, and after reading the articles, he said he will consider writing a script for the 2.5mg/day dose(as recommended for MPB), but 5mg he felt was too high(no surprise). He is still going to talk to the GSK rep before he makes his final decision.
To (ME)-- I work for Merck-Medco and have great insurance. I get 300 proscar every three months for $15 since it's made by Merck. Whatever dosage my doc prescribes me for duta will cost me $30 for a three month supply. So if I get 2.5/day, Ill get 450 avodart capsules every three months for $30.
To (Buttgasser) I have a great relationship with my doc, and I did inform him the trials were "supposedly" cancelled indefinately, but I wasn't sure. He knows how these things work and has had no problems with off-label prescriptions in the past.
